Four Pieces Of Advice On Essay Introduction Structure For High School

August 2, 2019 15:50 , by David Mill - | No one following this article yet.

Each part of your essay has an important job to do. When they’re all working together, your paper will be a success. But if any section doesn’t quite meet expectations, your entire paper could be thrown off its game.

The introduction has a particularly important job. It’s like a road map for your readers, introducing all the key ideas and the structure for your paper. Getting the introduction right is key. If you don’t, it all goes downhill.

Here’s some advice on writing a fantastic introduction for your high school essay. For more help with your paper, check out a research paper writing service writemyessay.services.

  1. Give the reader an example. A memorable introduction starts off with an example. Whether it’s a literary example for your paper on a novel or a description of a star for your paper on astrophysics, beginning with an example sets the tone for your paper and guides the reader to the right head space. Don’t go overboard, though, and write a whole paragraph-long example. Be brief, but be illustrative. Make it memorable, surprising or powerful. And make sure your example is related to the goals of your paper.
  2. Give the reader some context. One you’ve captured the reader’s attention with a catchy example, add some context. Give the reader information about your topic that helps them understand what your paper will explore. You could include related papers or sources, relevant facts about the topic, or things they’ll need to understand to fully grasp your thesis. If your paper is more personal in nature, you can use this time to set the mood or give context for the time period you’re writing about.
  3. Give the reader a roadmap. At this point in your introduction, it’s time to give the reader a roadmap for your paper’s main argument. Keep this very simple. You have the rest of your paper to lay out your argument clearly. But in this section, you can introduce the main arc of your paper, lightly touching on the main points you’ll cover. You can also introduce the structure you’ll use in laying out your argument.
  4. Give the reader your thesis statement. Your whole introduction is building to the thesis statement, which is not only the most important part of your introduction, but also the most important part of your paper. The thesis statement is the clear statement of your paper’s main idea, and it breaks down your main points one by one. The rest of your paper will be built on the thesis, so it’s important to make it a sturdy one. The best thesis statement has a very clear position that is defendable through a few main supporting points. Being concise matters greatly here. Make sure everything before this builds up to the ideas in your thesis statement.

Writing the introduction for your high school essay is an important step in building a great paper. With a memorable example, interesting context, a clear structure and a powerful thesis statement, you can create an introduction that will grab your reader’s attention and keep them hooked until the last sentence.
